When God Moves Faster Than Human Expectations

When I needed housing, I was told, "It will take at least five years." But God had another plan.

One day, my property viewing was unexpectedly rescheduled, and I was the only one who showed up. A short while later, I was handed the keys.

I was reminded of God's promise:

"At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen." — Isaiah 60:22

This moment was a powerful reminder that God is sovereign over time. While we often place our trust in human estimates, calculations, and logic, God's ways exceed human understanding (Isaiah 55:8-9). He is not limited by housing waitlists, job qualifications, or any societal timeline. Instead, He works beyond natural limitations to accomplish His perfect will.

God's provision is not just about receiving what we need—it's about revealing His character. He is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14). When Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac, God provided a ram in place of his son, showing that God always provides in His perfect timing. Likewise, in my situation, He orchestrated every step to ensure I was positioned to receive His blessing at the right moment.

The world tells us to wait in line, but God says, "I am the One who promotes and accelerates."

God's Timing Is Not Man's Timing

Society creates timelines, but God is not bound by them. We see this pattern throughout Scripture:

  • Joseph's Promotion: Joseph went from prison to palace overnight (Genesis 41:14). He spent years in hardship, falsely accused and forgotten. But in one moment, when the time was right, God elevated him to a position of authority in Egypt. This reminds us that delays are not denials—God works behind the scenes to prepare us for what's ahead.

  • Sarah's Miracle: Sarah had a child long after it seemed impossible (Genesis 21:2). Though she and Abraham had waited for decades, God fulfilled His promise at the appointed time, showing that He is faithful even when circumstances seem hopeless.

  • My Own Experience in Tech: I got a job in Tech with no specialised skills—learning on the job. In a world where credentials and experience are considered prerequisites, God showed me that His favor qualifies the unqualified. Just like David was anointed as king over his more experienced brothers (1 Samuel 16:7), God chooses and equips those whom He calls.

When You're Waiting for Your Breakthrough

1. Trust that God's timing is perfect. If it hasn't happened yet, it's because He's aligning things for your good (Romans 8:28).
2. Be ready for divine acceleration. When God moves, it happens suddenly. Just like the Israelites were delivered from Egypt overnight (Exodus 12:31-33), your breakthrough may come quicker than expected.
3. Stop relying on human predictions. People said 5 years—I got my home in 2. God holds the final word (Proverbs 19:21).

"For the vision is yet for an appointed time... Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come." — Habakkuk 2:3

Encouragement for You

If you're waiting for a job, a home, a breakthrough, remember:

  • Faith moves mountains. Don't limit what God can do (Matthew 17:20).

  • Obedience and faith position us for supernatural doors. Just like Peter stepping out of the boat (Matthew 14:29), trusting God requires stepping into the unknown.

  • God's favor qualifies the unqualified. Your lack is no obstacle for His provision (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Reflection: Where have you been putting faith in human timelines instead of God's? Take a moment to surrender those concerns to Him today.
